The day Edgar is initiated as a Wizard's Apprentice he finds out that magic may be fading from existence. With very little training, he must journey with his uncle and master, Magnus, to uncover the source of the magical disturbances before it's too late.

When Adelaide took an apprentice job with a local herbalist, she never dreamed that the herb shop was merely a front for a secret magical lair. Women aren't allowed to use magic in the kingdom of Chadwick, but that hasn't stopped Addy's master, Hestia, from secretly performing magic anyway. Addy learns all about the different shades of magic, and the punishment of death that awaits any woman caught using the craft.

When The Ancient Fellowship charges Magnus and Edgar with researching the loss of magic, their investigation leads them to a small herbal shop where Edgar and Adelaide discover the vast history shared by their masters. They embark on an adventure to try and salvage the very fabric of magic itself.

Shade of Magic is a story of self discovery and love.

Books In the Attic's Review
First off, I have to admit that I was very skeptical about this book. It was mostly because I was not fond of the book cover. Which led me into thinking that it would not be as much fun or interesting and would be a bore, resulting with me quickly tossing the book aside. I am happy to say that I really should NOT judge a book by its cover.
Shades of Magic's literary structure was whimsical and detailed. The beginnings of the book was slow, but your then taken on a constant flow of a fairy-tale like story. I ended up feeling empathetic to Adelaide's struggle to prove herself to the Wizard Community, as well as to convince herself that she IS as strong as her mentor believes.

Shades of Magic begins with two stories; one of Edgar's voice: a town boy whoe does not believe in settleing down, cares only to have fun and live life, whom is also a Wizard Apprentice to a Master Wizard which happens to be his uncle. And Adelaide's voice: an independant girl who is an Herbalist's Apprentice who later on finds out is a Wizard herself. Women Wizards are strictly forbidden and are surely punished! Half way through the book, these two stories weave together to create an adventurous tale of self discovery, hidden love, and the will to fight to reach a common goal.
Set in the medieval times with Wizards, Druids, talking familiars, and dragons Oh My! A light read that would make for a great bed time story! Ms. K.D. Wilson I am sorry for doubting Shades of Magic, BUT I did enjoy every word. Thank you for a wondrous read!

I was fortunate enough to recieve the e-book file of Shades of Magic through a GiveAway Hosted by Author K.D. Wilson.

Another Welcome!
Okay, so I'm done with my testing. Well, at least I think I am. I started this new blog in conjunction with my first book blog SpadesHighReads.com. I will still continue to use SpadesHighReads I just wanted to have another blog where it's somewhat more organized and creative than my trial run blog. ^_^ Hope you guys like this blog. So, without further ado doo -- WELCOME TO 'BOOKS IN THE ATTIC.'

The name just jumped at me and it can be taken in two (2) ways...The attic (slang for your head/mind) and the literal sense of the spare room below the roof (as in, you have TOO MANY books that your bookshelf is not enough).

I'll try to type more later on tomorrow and more contruction is on the way for this blog. Lil Spades is crying so I have to tend to the Prince of the house lol.

Night everyone!!
